Axie Infinity Voted Blockchain Game of the Year

axie infinity blockchain game of the year award

The blockchain gaming community has voted Axie Infinity to be the most popular blockchain game of the year 2020. The play-to-earn game by Sky Mavis received an overwhelming amount of support during the vote. Their own community has been very vocal throughout the year. Therefore they won several other awards including one of Lovely Dev People and Best Integrated Economy.

Axie Infinity managed to keep Blankos Block Party behind them in second place. The newly launched platformer from Mythical Games is already being praised by many, and is therefore definitely one to watch in the coming year. In addition the third place went to Lost Relics, which added tons of new features over the past twelve months.

The Play to Earn Blockchain Game of the Year Awards were completely community organized. The Play to Earn Community created their shortlist on Discord, and after that the voting was open to everybody. Especially the Axie Infinity community was very passionate, showing why they deserved the award for Supportive Community.

Four prizes for Axie

Axie Infinity took home four different awards from the Play to Earn Blockchain Game of the Year Awards. Aside from the blockchain game of the year award, Sky Mavis and Axie spokesperson Jihoz also received praise from the community for being a lovely game dev. Sebastien Borget from The Sandbox and Cliff Cawley from Lost Relics completed the top three.

In addition Axie Infinity won gold for the best integrated economy. Their Small Love Potions and breeding mechanics aren’t only creating a new Axies, but also provide a serious source of income in for example Indonesia, Venezuela and the Philippines. MegaCryptoPolis and Splinterlands complete the top three.

Decentraland and one to watch

Axie Infinity didn’t win everything, for example Decentraland managed to take home the award for the most popular virtual world. They managed to keep both The Sandbox and Cryptovoxels behind them. In addition Decentraland came in second place for the most supportive community, which one can also see in-world through all those awesome creations and mini-games.

In the end there was one award none of the existing games could take home. That’s of course the Future Gem award, which is a prize for a much hyped but yet unreleased game. Even though competition was fierce, it was Ember Sword that claimed victory. The open-world role playing game ended on top, before the creature-catching game Chainmonsters and the space conquest game Infinite Fleet.
