Muse Promotes Album Through Cryptokitties

muse cryptokitties simulation theory

Rock band Muse has partnered with Dapper Labs to bring special cryptokitties to the market inspired by their Simulation Theory multimedia project. There will be two different kitties, and the first one already sold out, while the second version goes on sale soon. Collectors will also be able to breed the second version until September 19th.

Marty is based on the Something Human music video. There are only 199 Marty kitties on the market, each of them sold for 99 dollars. In addition there will be 1099 Mibbles cryptokitties signed by Muse, sold for 19 dollars each. However there’s no limit on the amount of unsigned Mibbles that can be bred in the next two weeks.

The inspiration for these two kitties all comes from the latest works from Muse. Simulation Theory is a film directed by Lance Drake. The film is supposed to blur the lines between a story-driven movie and the recording of a concert. In addition it’s also the title of their latest album, which is now available on Spotify.

Marty already on the market

The Marty kitties sold out within minutes for 99 dollars each. Currently people are trading them on the secondary market. Some of them have already sold for 1.5 ETH ($700), while listings currently range from 0.83 to 7 ETH each.

Currently all these kitties are on the Ethereum blockchain, but soon collectors can move their cats to the Flow blockchain. Dapper Labs has promised more use cases for Cryptokitties on their own upcoming blockchain. In addition the cats will be designed with more threedimensional elements, instead of the flat design of the current kitties.

What is Cryptokitties?

Cryptokitties is a blockchain-based game that involves the purchase, collection, breeding and selling of digital cats. Every cat features different attributes that make them unique and they cannot be replicated. Because of their uniqueness, trading Cryptokitties is quite a big business.

For example, in September 2018 someone paid 600 ETH for a kitten called Dragon. That’s the equivalent of 170 thousand dollars. In addition the first kitten ever, Genesis, is worth over 246 ETH.

In a world full of blockchain games, Cryptokitties is the godfather. Because this is the game that started the concept of ownership over digital assets. It was the first to use the Ethereum token standard ERC-721 and make a successful ‘game’ out of it.
