As if Axie Infinity is not doing enough tokenomics, the game is now rumored to launch a new mystery token. This information comes from the transparency board of blockchain research and consultancy firm Delphi Digital. The new token would be an addition to the existing Small Love Potions and DAI gameplay rewards.
Co-founder Jeff Zirlin, better known is Jihoz, already dropped some hints on the purpose of the mystery token. In a tweet he hinted at a native governance token that will be launched somewhere this year. Whether the governance token has anything to do with the upcoming launch of virtual land, still remains a mystery.
Axie Infinity has been on a roll lately. After catching headlines with the incredible price pump of its Small Love Potions (SLP), the project became at the center of speculation when very valuable game creatures were cut into pieces and sold in shares on Niftex. The price of some of these creatures pumped big time, while one creature was even worth $100.000 for a second.
Today game studio Sky Mavis announced the 9th Arena Season for Axie Infinity. The players who perform best in the competitive mode will win money. In addition players who win a match also have a change of earn DAI tokens.
What is Axie Infinity?
Axie Infinity is a tactical battle game in which two players fight each other using a team of cute creatures called Axies. These little weird balls of joy live in a world called Lunacia, and they come in all kinds of shapes in sizes. Their characteristics influence which moves they are capable of performing. They can be damage dealers, healers, or bad ass tanks.
Axies are deadly cute, that is an undeniable truth. But Axies are not only just cute, their appearance are almost unique. It is difficult to find two look-alike Axies since their body parts have various forms and shapes. There are more than 500 Axie’s body parts. Axies’ body and parts are classified into classes including Beast, Plant, Bug, Bird, Reptile and Aquatic, and more in future release. Moreover, the parts also come with four levels of rarity, which are Common, Rare, Ultra Rare, Legendary.
It is the battle system that makes Axie Infinity stand out. Axies will take turn to fight in a 3v3 battle. The Axies fight for their own will, but to win the victory, players need to a real strategist, from wisely choosing appropriate Axies for their team to placing them at the tactical positions.
